- "Gluten-free", "no gluten", "free of gluten" and "without gluten" mean the food is inherently gluten-free, or has no gluten-containing grain (wheat, rye, barley, their crossbreeds), nothing made from one with the gluten left in, and nothing made from one with the gluten removed if that brings it to 20 ppm or more - and any unavoidable gluten is below 20 ppm.
- "Wheat" on a claimed food's label needs a symbol pointing to a statement that it was processed to meet FDA's gluten-free requirements.
